Hello, from the other side! Well, not the other side, other side, that would be kind of concerning for my family and friends!!! but from the other side of the weekend. I think this is the first weekend I've gone without a post for a while and definitely the first without an adventure or two for ages. I try not to talk about my health because firstly, it's boring AF and secondly, this is not Dolly Doctor, but safe to say I've been feeling a tad on the rubbish side lately so I've been hanging out in bed for most of the weekend and it was delicious. So I've decided to christen this week 'Spider Week' (*watches nervously as followers drop off in the hundreds 😂). But I've got a bit of a spider backlog and if I end up spending the rest of the week binging Season 2 of The OA on Netflix (and then acting surprised when rewatching with Matt at night) I've still got some amazing and bloody cute critters to share with you all - PSA: spiders can be cute and gorgeous and fascinating too. Although, as you know, I'm also just as likely to sit on a headland for hours on end in the rain just.in.case (can you believe whales have apparently been spotted ALREADY?!?!?!) So who knows exactly what will happen. But for the time being, welcome to our inaugural Spider Week! And first up is this little lovely that I spotted glistening on a lantana leaf. A tiny, quite spindly, mirror-like spider. I've wanted to spot one of these forever and this was one of those crazy lucky finds, on the way into the house after a wander, a flash of colour amongst the dark overgrowth just near the creek. Now, apparently the glittery mosaic look of the abdomen is actually made up of something called guanine which is a by product of the spider's digestion. And that people is the end of my knowledge. There's a reason I crashed out of chem and physiology and maths and art and ...😂 But you have to admit, that is one pretty spectacular looking spider!
