"text": "I somehow spent 3 hours at the botanic gardens this morning. I seriously lost time. Aliens may as well have beamed me up and given me a good old fashioned anal probing because by the time I stumbled out to the car I didn't even know what day it was anymore, let alone the hour. Like I've said before, I can occasionally get a tad obsessed and today there were Blue-Banded Bees and Neon Cuckoo Bees and spiders, so many different spiders and I wasn't going to give up because I'm so damn persistant when it comes to finding the critters but not with the weight loss (eating a little Crunchie as I type. Don't judge, got to power those long mornings somehow).\n\nBut I think I spent the most time (and swear jar money) at the Scorpion-Tailed Spider. So I found my first a few weeks ago and after a bit of a WTF moment, fell in love and stumbled across this smaller one today. I normally don't listen to music when I'm on a critter walk because hello! it makes it hard to hear the critters. But today I broke the rules, mainly because my son was playing music to me in the car earlier, trying to educate me in what I should be listening to. Not only does it make it hard to hear any animal sounds but it makes it bloody near impossible to change lenses when you've got inevitably tangled headphone cords and tangled flash rigs and no real agility or skills to speak of. \n\nI changed lenses a couple of times trying to capture just how cool this spider is and how amazingly intricate and detailed and downright tricky web building is, especially on a gusty morning, but just couldn't get clear footage at all really. So after spending a considerable amount of time cursing myself, my skills and the day I was born and then washing my mouth out with soap I decided to head off to see what else was getting started for the day around the gardens. It wasn't until I got home and watched the few snippets I had gotten of this lovely girl that I realised just how beautiful the web making process is. So forgive the less than stellar quality and watch this unusual spider do her thing. Legend has it that if you listen closely you can hear, part way through, the guitar riff from November Rain playing quietly in the background because someone struggled to keep her ear phones in! \n\nScorpion-Tailed Spider\nWollongong Botanic Garden\n\n#wollongongbotanicgarden #spiderweb #charlottesweb #scorpiontailedspider #backyardzoology",
