But how great does he look? Very prehistoric. Must admit that the red chest markings of the mature males may have caught me out a couple of times early on in our life here. Yes, I did chase the odd male trying to catch and assist the poor 'injured' lizards! Well, the red does look very dramatic. Turns out that running at them, all be it, crouched very low to the ground, softly but frantically whispering \"I just want to see that you're ok\" is not at all comforting to these reptiles.\n\nWe actually had one of these guys up on the porch a few weeks ago. I was wondering why the dogs were throwing themselves at the front door and peeked out to see a dragon looking right at home! I ended up cutting up a couple of cherry tomatoes and putting out a small dish of water because the only reason I could think that an adult would walk up the stairs and stay around even with the dogs so close by, was out of hunger. We do get tiny bubbas on the lower stairs but this was definitely a first. It actually ate a few pieces of tomato, biting down a few times and then throwing its head back when swallowing, tomato seeds on its lips. And then off it wandered, back down the stairs, in absolutely no rush at all. So yeah, I'm thinking that this may not have been this one's first visit after all!\n\nEastern Water Dragon\nNorthern Illawarra", "media": [ { "url":
