  "text": "An hour and a half of active effort (not including the time climbing and adjusting and then drying) in less than 2 minutes 😳❤️\n\nNot sure how you all spent your Saturday night but we have this thing in the Illawarra called the Santa Pub Crawl and it is massive. Thousands of people dressed as santas and angels and reindeers and the odd Jesus or two head out into the night, sometimes looking at though they have forgotten their pants, to drink and make merry at this, the best time of year. I have participated a grand total of one time. I was newly single after many moons of being married and didn't really even know it was a thing and yet I donned a pair of beautiful, hand painted fairy wings which I actually had just lying around the house and by the end of the night I resembled more of a squished flying ant than a Christmas Fairy but still, I tried right? 😂🙄\n\nAs I picked up my son early last night, the streets were teeming with santas; you could practically taste the cottony, fluffy strands from the fake beards as the wind caught them and whisked them away and you could definitely smell the beer. Happily for me though, my boy is still too young to be out on the town but is starting to show some interest and legally he is only a couple of years away from being able to, so while I still can, I did what any decent parent would do and forced him to play a lame Christams version of 'would you rather' and then dragged him away from the Playstation to watch (part of) a cicada moult. \n\nWe just filmed this timelapse using an ipone, a tripod and a poorly, for the most part, positioned torch but hopefully you'll love watching this process as much as I do. And you can actually see the moment when my son arrives on the scene with another torch so it's essentially like being there! 😂😂😂The cicada first got into place on the deck about 10:10PM and wiggled around slightly, readjusting several times befor the moult commenced just before 11:30PM. We went to bed, letting the cicada dry it's wings just after 1AM. My head was literally spinning from tiredness but I couldn't sleep and I got up to check on it around 2AM and it was still hanging off its shelf, wings now folded up close to its body and still a similar colour. And then I slept. Like a baby.
