"text": "We haven't seen our Tawny family for a couple of days. Matt had been visiting his folks for around 10 days and missed the rediscovery of the very healthy fam and as soon as he got home, the forest swallowed them up again. I felt so disappointed for him, as I know how much he loved seeing their chunky little bubba selves and how good I felt seeing them all looking so great and of course the special sunbathing treat - once in a lifetime stuff, right?\n\nWell... not so fast. As we headed out this morning, I did my usual scan and spotted them all again! The cicadas are so loud at the moment Matt could only look for 30 seconds before dashing inside to get ear plugs. He was pretty stoked with seeing the tawnies, and getting some pics but I just had a feeling in my waters that we should go and check on them again early afternoon.\n\nAnd I'm so glad I did! Because one after the other they flew to the sun-drenched forest floor and began to sunbathe again. Honestly I can't describe how super special it feels to witness this. When they hang around the yard, they'll bliss out in the sun, with their heads lolling over to one side but I never, ever see them on the ground.\n\nThey spent quite a bit of time wiggling down into the dirt, getting all the warmth in just the right spots. It was hot in the sun today and they were cooling themselves by keeping their beaks open, panting lightly, and one of the parents even threw a protective wing over one of the chicks (video to come soon) but like young ones of all species, it soon wriggled out of the parents firm grip.\n\nAnother super, special day.\n\nTawny Frogmouths\nNorthern Illawarra",
