Thank god we only have a small yard - I pretty much suck at gardening and all related garden based activities. But I'm trying. Or at least, I'm trying to try. Anyway. We have a birds nest fern. A big beautiful, super lush, vibrant green fern. Cool huh? Except it was growing out of the brick work at the back of the house. Lord knows how it got there but it was situated right near the outdoor tap and the fern clearly loves it. While I wasn't paying attention it has grown. Big. So now that I'm a real life (wanna be) gardener, I decided to remove it from the wall and transplant it into a pot.
Except mid plant surgery I spotted a jumping spider. Now I am totally mad for a jumper. For some reason I only realised we had loads of them last year and as soon as it started to warm up I've been standing out the front staring into the camellias like the spider tragic that I am. I've seen quite a few already but this little lovely was the friendliest I have seen this year. It would jump up on to my hand, running up my arm, I'd put it back, only for it to jump back onto me - what can I say? I'm totally delicious. Now husby is not a huge spider fan so despite all my super patient encouragement to "please just hold the damn leaf still" and "please don't suddenly let go when the spider jumps towards you or you will fling it catapult style and no-one wants that now do they?" the leaf holding was left up to me.
But it was totally worth it. I mean, just look at that face ❤️
