"text": "So today turned out to be unexpectedly emotional - not in a cry in the car kind of way but more like a lump in the throat that sneaks up on you and doesn't want to move on. \n\nI ended up in the little town where I used to live and wow had I forgotten how absolutely beautiful it is. It was weird driving in though. Things were different. There was a new cycleway that wound its way through the village. New houses had popped up, BIG houses. And then I drove up to my old house. The one that I bought with my ex husband. My very first house and one that we renovated together, sometimes poorly 😂. The house that I had my son in and where we lived until he was 3 years old. \n\nAnd that beautiful little fibro cottage had...changed. It had gotten all posh. Even the letter box looked like a master builder had gotten to it! There was a huge wrap around deck, cladding, an egg chair swaying in the wind looking out over the mountains. Beautiful. But no longer recognisable. I even checked the house number because it looked so different! I thought about all the good times and the bad times and all the changes we had made to the property and how they had been changed again. And I thought about the girl I was back then. The changes to the house are NOTHING compared to the changes to me. It's as if I have shed that old skin and stepped out a completely different human. In a good way, mostly.\n\nI didn't sit out the front of the house like a weirdo for long. I have to admit I did snap a couple of photos - particularly of the beautiful hedge which we had planted from free baby plants many moons ago and which was just too damn good to get rid of. It looked incredible. And it was nice to see that a little part of the family we were still remains. I ended up walking along one of the new pathways for a while just soaking up the sun and atmosphere. Such a great thing for the community and probably the only flat part of the entire village - hallelujah! And the water dragons were out soaking up the sun too - my first reptiles of the season! \n\nI love these lizards, they are incredibly handsome and totally bad ass. One big male sat bobbing his head away in a threatening display at me, or so I thought, when suddenly another even bigger male came racing across the rocks, leaping as needed and chased the other boy away. Can't wait until our local dragons start sauntering out of the rainforest and onto our street, lurching out of the bushes and scaring the bejesus out of me on a daily basis 😂\n\nEastern Water Dragons\nMt Kembla",
