So when we say we love the nightlife around here...what we actually mean is we love the nocturnal wildlife around here.
It's been a long day. A very, very long day, just doing much needed house and garden stuff but added on to a very, very, very long week we are well and truly exhausted. I even half jokingly said to Matt that I'd head out with him if he was keen, knowing full well that he'd be too tired to want to go out on the town and being already half in my pyjamas at the time that I said it probably made it abundantly clear that I had no intentions of heading out if he was indeed stupid enough to take me up on the offer.
But there are some things that neither of us are too tired for and that's animal hunting (just to be clear, I mean in the camera/torch based way ๐ณ๐). We didn't actually plan to set out looking for the feathered and the furred but when you hear a Boobook AND a Powerful Owl relatively closely, you really are left with no choice but to don your bunny slippers and shuffle awkwardly down the street hoping to get lucky. Unfortunately we lucked out on spotting either owl but we did get to watch a Brushtail Possum pee to its hearts content and then came home to find the sweetest little Ringtail nibbling away in one of our trees. He, and it was definitely a he (Matt pointed out his "balls" ๐. If you think I'm pretty lax because I use common names, you should hear some of the 'technical' terms that are bandied about for animal anatomy in this house ๐๐) seemed quite interested in me particularly and spent some time leaning over the branch to see what I was up to. Some days are good. Other days are brilliant.
