While I've been able to take up some mini adventures again recently (thank you steroids) he's been stuck inside doing worky kind of things. \n\nSo last night I said, 'tomorrow is all about you. Whatever you want to do, wherever you want to go, I'll make it happen'. Good wife stuff, right? He chose Mt Annan, specifically hoping for a lace monitor and a snake at a distance. No worries, I thought. We always have fun there, there's always something to see and reptiles are the order of the day. Easy peasy.\n\nOh, but it wasn't easy, dear reader. Because while I was sipping on my morning coffee, lovingly made by my husband I should point out, I happened to read on Facebook that there were whales everywhere and so close they were practically walking around the car park at our fave whale watching spot. Look, I might be exaggerating a LITTLE bit, but that was the general vibe and so while I threw back my coffee and chucked on my clothes I broke the bad news that Saturday was actually going to be a whale and not a Mt Annan day after all. \n\nBut, and I made this part very clear, I was doing it FOR him, because I know how much Matt loves whales. Always thinking of others, that's me. Unfortunately we saw pretty much sweet FA. I did remember to pack a snack this time so we ambled over the rocks and had a cheeky muffin watching the ocean come and go. We also heard about an eastern brown snake that we had just missed so that was kind of like going to Mt Annan, right? Kind of? \n\nHere's some photos of the Lace Monitor that Matt didn't see the other day either. I spotted this one because the cockies were absolutely losing their minds, doing that ridiculously loud screech thing they do, bobbing their heads and throwing their wings wide open. I knew something was up and what was up was this pretty big monitor up their tree. \n\nThey're fantastic climbers with really long, pretty fierce looking claws. They'll eat small birds and eggs (along with small mammals, reptiles and road kills), so I get why the cockies were going crazy but even when it came legging it back down the tree, the cockies would not leave it alone swooping it and carrying on until it finally moved away. \n\nI love these animals so much. Not so much to rub it in Matt's nose though. So when he asked had I seen anything much at the botanic gardens I played it cool. \"Oh you know, just one of those, um what do you call it?
