So over the last few days I've posted about the kangaroos, wild bee nest and turtle that I've been lucky enough to spend time observing over the last week. Freaking awesome right? But only birders will understand the quiet thrill of finding the bird you have been targeting. I have no sense of direction. Zero. Quite a few people were lovely enough to draw up maps, post photos and google map directions for me on where to find the Rose Robins in Mt Annan Botanic Garden. How brilliant is that? I unfortunately look upon maps as if they are written in a foreign language. I do the slow blink thing which normally accompanies a glass of wine or two, and absolutely nothing computes. Even a helpful 'YOU ARE HERE' and an arrow leaves me lost. I am where? Where is here? Who am I? But lucky for me I found a woman, peering up into the trees, with a camera around her neck ie: my kind of person, who was only too happy to give me some tips on where to look and in spite of nearby grass mowing and noisy tree lopping - shake the ground noisy tree lopping - the Rose Robins began to appear. And holy crap (I was going to write 'and oh my' but let's not pretend to be something I'm not right ๐Ÿ˜‚) they are the loveliest little creatures ever. I'm totally obsessed; little grey and pink fluff balls flitting through the trees and briefly onto the ground chasing insects. Apologies in advance, there will be many, many, many more photos to come as I stalk them and love them and adore them (until my next new favourite comes along).
