Oh, except for me, who should know better than to half lay, half crouch on rocks at this stage in my life and at this level of fitness ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜‚ We had set out to find some new waders for me to tick off - it's been a while since I have seen new species and I'm missing that #birdnerdbuzz But alas, it was a big dip for us. Must admit though I was still pretty damn excited to see these guys - they are truly striking looking birds and even though I have seen them before, they are currently listed as endangered in New South Wales with only an estimated 200 breeding pairs dispersed over the entire coastline. So a very nice sighting indeed and why we didn't want to scare them off, hence the crouching and crawling and waiting - why didn't I get into birding 20 years ago when the body was still supple?! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Pied Oystercatcher Lake Illawarra #lakeillawarra #birdsofoz #piedoystercatcher #endangeredspecies #australia #olyumpus #backyardzoology
