Can't quite put my finger on it but I felt all round rubbish. There were buckets of sweat, like literally pouring down my face and the small of my back and while I'm feeling a little better I did dream today that I was on a small boat heading out to the Great Barrier Reef and I was very sea sick so lets just say the waves of nausea are continuing. \n\nWhile it has meant that I haven't been able to do much animal watching, I did get to stay home from work today and catch some of the Oscars. I really wanted to see Sufjan Stevens - who I love, love, love - have his moment in the sun performing his Oscar nominated song but I turned the tv on to see him and his band descend down into the stage just having finished ๐Ÿ˜‚ I do believe I may just have the worst timing ever. I did grab my camera at one point to try and capture a beautiful male Superb Fairy-wren losing his breeding colours but he decided to head off at the first sight of my lens. What was that about timing again?\n\nDespite the rain a couple of Eastern Spinebills did decide to come and hang out in the King Palm Tree that we have out the front. I have no idea why on earth that tree was planted, it is kind of odd for where we live, but I'm so thankful for it. It has this cascade of red berries that loads of birds sample and tiny pink/purple flowers that attract so many insects and birds and insect eating birds and I've seen a sugar glider scamper up the side and it's always filled with possums and occasionally this dried arrangement of branch like tangles falls to the ground and the end happens to be shaped exactly like a headband and I ALWAYS pick it up and wear it around completely shamelessly until it gives me a headache which it invariably does. Yes indeed, the perfect tree. \n\nAnyway it was nice to watch the spine bills hang upside down amongst the flowers feeding on insects and nectar in the rain, with the oscars in the background and my pups snoring away nearby. \n\nEastern Spinebill\nNorthern Illawarra", "media": [ { "url":
