What is it with me and animals in peril lately? Found a bee looking very unwell this morning, not flying off, struggling on the leaf it was sitting on, you know the drill. And then I remembered seeing something on facebook and as we all know if it's on facebook it must be true and so I ran inside to whip up a simple sugar solution (lucky I haven't quit the stuff!!!) The bee was not at all interested to start with and it wasn't until I touched it's mouthparts with a tiny drop of the syrup that it started to drink. It continued to drink for a while and then I put it back on the camellia leaves and was all ready to watch it either live or die and then a couple of mating wasps flew past and who can resist wasps especially when they're mating and I got distracted and when I finally turned back...the bee was gone. Now we all know that this story may not have had a happy ending but there's been too many sad stories lately so I'm going to employ some poetic licence and I'm just going to assume that that bee revived and flew away, waving goodbye to me as it left Bee Northern Illawarra
