Back on this day in 1936 the last captive Thylacine (Tasmanian Tiger) died in Beaumaris Zoo. Such a terrible loss! When we were in Tassie in June we went to the museum which has a fascinating Thylacine collection. I found the whole experience incredibly moving, especially the silent footage of the last captive tiger and being so close to the skin and skeleton of a couple of specimens. Society has to move on, communities need to grow but we really need to remain vigilant and act on behalf of those that don't have a voice, the beautiful, vulnerable fauna of Australia. I definitely wish I lived in a world where tassie tigers still roamed around.
