These photos are from another time, which sounds WAY more dramatic than it is. Maybe a couple of weeks ago. That's the last time I ventured out. Don't you worry though, I have been exploring ALL the places: the bed, the lounge, the front porch with the view of the bush, the back deck, the egg chair on the back deck, the table out the back near the deck. See? Busy, busy, busy. These Crested Terns made for a fantastic distraction while we were waiting for whales to show up at our fave whale watching spot. Lots of courtship going on, which goes something like, wings held out to the side of the body, much circling around each other, offer a tasty fish, reject or sometimes accept tasty fish, or watch in dismay as your fishy gift is swallowed by another tern entirely, (or sometimes by the gift-giver themselves - RUDE!) I'll get some video together as it's lots of fun to watch but here's some photos in the meantime. Can't help but feel sorry for the little fish when you can see their unhappy faces! Crested Terns Shellharbour *** I wrote about the adventures you have when you can't have big adventures for The Illawarra Flame last week. https://www.theillawarraflame.com.au/science--nature/in-praise-of-the-micro-adventure#1
