Sometimes I make bad life decisions.
Today I decided to drive straight from work and go looking for some new birds, specifically waders. I knew I might end up in one of the um, dodgier parts of town, and when you're birding you tend to head into remote areas, surrounded by bushes and out of sight of anyone passing by, but I was trying to do that self talk thing to stop myself being unnecessarily nervous.
After nixing out in a few spots I thought I'd try one last stop. Once I pulled up though, I noticed that the sun was shining directly at where I would be shooting from and I couldn't get close to any birds due to the soft mud (i.e. quick sand) that they were standing on. Oh and I noticed a bright pink pair of knickers that had been hastily discarded and what appeared to be a daylight drug deal.
So forgive these pictures please and know that I am one very happy camper: new birds and I didn't die! A successful afternoon after all
