Got out for a dose of Vitamin Sea yesterday. It was absolutely incredible with pods of active whales pretty much visible at all times, including several at the same time. When you don't know where to look because there's just so much action, you know you've got a good day of whale watching ahead of you!
I love the southern migration. It's the time when whales learn to, well, be whales. So you see lots of copied behaviours; mummas breaching and babies following. Head lunges from the calves and then the huge cows showing them how it's really done. The size difference, in not just the animal themselves but in the size of the splashes is probably my very favourite thing.
No sound on these videos because when I'm not saying, "Wow!" over and over, I'm swearing or complaining about how tired I am and there's some things you just don't need to hear 😂
Also I used the gross pit toilet at Bass Point so I could keep watching these beauties and spent the whole time gagging from the stench. Give me a bush wee any day!
*** these videos were all taken from the rocks, not a boat. Such a special place for whale watching***
