I've missed these guys. Kind of knew that today was going to be a bust when it came to whale watching and decided not to do the 'big drive' to our usual spot and instead headed to Port Kembla. Just to show how serious we were taking the whole thing, we even took the puppy with us. We found out how bad an idea that was when a white-bellied sea eagle flew overhead. I had the lead around my wrist and every time I tried to focus, she pulled on the lead and well, not many photos were taken. And then we spotted this kestrel. These are one of my favourite birds of prey; delicate looking little things, sweet faces and gorgeous colouring. We used to chase these birds all the time but we can't remember the last time we saw one and stopped to take photos. As we stood waiting for the bird to land, Matt started undoing his belt. Okay, not the reaction I was expecting... Turns out my husband is a genius and looped Mabel's lead through his belt, keeping her safe and his hands free for camera wrangling!
