Much perfect. \n\nHaven't been doing a lot of Backyard Zoology-ing the last couple of weeks. I've been unwell and have spent as much time as I can in bed (it's boring, I can hear the world outside and I'm quietly going crazy but its necessary). However, we have snuck out for a couple of small walks and holy cow has it been worth it!!!\n\nHeaded into the Botanic Gardens yesterday, specifically the Rainforest Collection which I totally love - it reminds me of the bush across the road (kind of crazy that I drive 20 minutes to walk through what is essentially the same as home but it has a path and seats and right now, I'm not sneezing at ease of use!). \n\nI did expect to see the resident Brush Turkey and White Browed Scrub wrens, to hear the Lewin's Honeyeater and was desperate to spot the echidna I'd seen on Facebook. I did not however, not even once, expect to come across a mother freaking deer!!! There are no photos, it all happened so fast, so you'll just have to trust me but I'm sure people at the other end of the gardens heard hubby shouting: \"holy crap!! That's a deer!\" as it bolted out in front of us.\n\nAnyway that obviously got Matt's spidey senses tingling because not long after that we stumbled across one of my very favourite animals: the echidna. Was so brilliant watching it digging for food under a tree and generally just waddling the day away. Looks like I've found my latest obsession.\n\nShort Beaked Echidna", "media": [ { "url":
