Turns out our resident juvenile male Brushtail Possum Notch isn't so juvenile, or so male after all!!! We were trying to quietly indulge in a little Scandic-Noir last night when we could hear a gentle drop, drop, drop onto our garage roof. We ran out to investigate a couple of times but discovering nothing we headed back inside for some strangely paced, subtitled drama. The pitter patter on the roof however, continued. Third time lucky though and Matt shone the torch up and away from the roof and spotted Notch feasting on berries in the tree. Except Notch looked...um...different...like with-a-pouch different. With a joey inside the pouch different! Seriously this was one of the most exciting things we have ever seen! Looking forward to watching the little one's progress AND getting to know Notch all over again. Oh and it seems I wasn't just wrong about Notch's sex. Those weren't berries she was dropping hahaha. Back to possum school for me. Brushtail Possum with joey in pouch
