I was THIS close. I had everything packed including my cossies which was where my plan imploded. I didn't want to wear them under my clothes because wearing a one piece is a toilet-going nightmare. (Yes, in my world, mild inconveniences are referred to as nightmares 🤣) But then when faced with the thought of getting changed INTO said cossies in a pit toilet, I panicked and said very loudly and to no-one in particular, "no thank you very much". The nightmare of having to completely undress to pee, was out-nightmared by the possibility of losing a shoe in the hole of sorrow! Instead, we looked for whales and saw some blow on the drive in but nothing afterwards. But we did have fun watching the Eastern Water Skinks, hanging out in the sun and nodding and carrying on when a fellow lizard came too close. The surprise of the day however, was spotting a very lovely juvenile Black-Shouldered Kite literally as the words "Haven't seen a Black-Shouldered Kite here forever" were coming out of my mouth! The young birds don't have the crazy cool red eyes of the adults but they're still very lovely. We watched as this one flew off, and hovered in the distance hunting for mice, rats or even small birds if desperate. Didn't have any luck, us or the raptor, but it was so nice to see that the area had successfully nesting BSKs once again. Juvenile Black-Shouldered Kite Bass Point
