🎶They see, me rollin', they hatin...'🎶
People who have been here from the beginning, might remember me regularly stating "this is not a phototgraphy page" due to my amateur camera skills and poor quality lens. Now I've upgraded, both in kit and in skills I don't say it as much, I probably should, but I don't.
Now, today was a pretty stellar day from start to finish. This morning husby finally got to get a fairly decent viewing of the Noisy Pitta and then we headed into the bush proper in search of wallabies and just quietly, Peacock Spiders. I'm DESPERATE to find my first Peacock Spider so spent most of the walk, eyes down. At one point I stopped in front of a tree - I won't bore you with my very non science based reasoning but let's just say I heard a voice deep inside of me telling me to stop ha! 😂- but I stopped, took a step forward, eyes on one of the branches, searching for the iridescent abdoman of the spider and...a Barn Owl swooped out of the tree, flying silently, completely and utterly silently, low over my head!!! 🙌🙌🙌 This is my first sighting of a Barn Owl and was a real poo your pants moment. It flew into a nearby tree and then headed into a more densely wooded area. Bugger. I have one photo. One unusuable photo, out of focus and with most of the bird chopped off. Still, a total thrill!
Then this afternoon was filled with the most incredible fur seal encounter - super brief but lovely all the same. I have some photos. Pretty much unusable photos. The light was bad and the seal kept swimming into the sun and the photos are just one big inky blur. But it was still totally brilliant. So, I'm still umming and ahhing about using the photos. This is still not a photography page and maybe I should be remembering that more; that this page is to document encounters and behaviours and just all the goodness that the natural world provides. But I do rather enjoy all the affirmations that come from a great photo!
In lieu of photos (at this stage) I got some really brief footage of the seal doing its seal-y thing, rolling over and over and over and I kind of love it. Plus there's music 🎶 (thanks matt 😉)
