Now I don't want to alarm anyone but we've had two consecutive days of full sun and it has been glorious! We're home for Easter this year and really, pretty much every year because we're not huge fans of people. It's been so nice to do a couple of camera walks super close to home even though I've felt the pang of jealousy as I live vicariously through everyone's holiday snaps.
You all know that I tend to be a tad dramatic but I swear that the sky looked really blue today, more blue than usual and I spent a fair whack of our walk head tilted back, face to the sky just saying 'wow' over and over. A combination of being so damn thankful to finally see the sun, my tiny mind and one too many coffees.
I feel like we're in this weird twilight zone though where the animals are all emerging going, 'How good is Summer?' even though we're a few weeks into Autumn. This Fiery Skimmer Dragonfly was catching ALL the flies! They hunt on the wing so we watched as it flicked its head around, its huge eyes scanning for food and just as something flew past, long before my brain had even worked out what the hell was happening, the dragonfly had focused in on, launched, grabbed mid-air, returned to its perch with a fly and then a hoverfly.
Probably not the best way to go, being eaten alive and all that, but it sure makes for a pretty picture.
