By the sound of his screams, it would seem that he would have just preferred to use his eyes and spotted them the old fashioned way, but I for one was thankful for the newly cleared path. I think anyone who's ever bush walked has run into one of these little guys as their webs are often laced across trails. To be fair though, they do tend to build their webs overlapping one another forming a community of face huggers so if you've walked into one, you've probably walked into lots. But good lord they are pretty little things. These two are ladies, being prettier and larger than their male counterparts. The boys are still an interesting looking spider, just without all the bling and only get to about 5 mm, so are teeny tiny. The girls get to about 12mm, still small but easier on my old eyes. As for today's adventure, well there wasn't really one. Aside from a walk along the coast peering into all the lovely houses and pointing out what we'd change (never the plunge pools though. They'd totally stay) and throwing a couple of worms to the baby Eastern Water Dragon that has hung around our garden long enough to have earned a name - Toothless - today was very quiet. So, very low on adventure but high on the relaxation stakes and that's sometimes the best kind of day. Christmas Spider Northern Illawarra
