Okay so these are dodgy phone at night photos but hey, I can't not share with you all one of the newest babies on the block, right?!
We actually spotted mumma sans baby a week or so ago. Well, not sans baby as such but walking across the tin roof with a very, VERY full pouch. So let's say, sans visible baby. Matt and I both looked at each other and I carefully broached the subject that I thought that this might indeed be the Brushtail Possum who lives in our roof. The roof is fairly new, only a couple of years old, but there's one section that was kept open, a tiny space really, just off from a little porch cover over hang thingo. But you know who loves the challenge of a small opening? Brushies, that's who!
And so I looked at Matt and pleaded and try to convince him that now was not the time to block the hole, I mean, the woman is with child for god's sake 🤣 Anyway it worked. Fast forward to someone having an absolute party in our roof from about 1:30PM to around 4PM 😂 Turns out the bubba is full of beans and likes to bounce and hang from the rafters by the sound of things 🤣
So we first spotted mumma with bubba a few nights ago when she walked straight up to me, the joey, a delicious golden rust colour, clinging onto her back. The strut was so determined I thought she was going to go straight up my leg and took a couple of steps back and she took the opportunity to hightail it up a tree. That night we spotted... well, something else... something I'll post about in the next day or two that had us quite worried about these two and the next day I noticed a decidedly eerily quiet ceiling space. You know, how they're supposed to be!
But still. We were both pretty worried and tried not to talk or even think about it too much. Until last night when we headed out for our nightly Spring wanders and found these two padding around like they own the joint!
So welcome little bubba! Be safe, and please keep my roof tidy for the next occupant 😉
