Is it Wednesday? It is, isn't it? 😳 Between the dead air between Christmas and New Years and then the Australia Day public holiday falling on a Tuesday and the husband still working from home, I honestly don't even know who I am anymore.
It's a bit late for a WTF Wednesday then. And by 'a bit late' I don't mean there's not enough time for you all to get your guesses in, although that would be true I guess, but more that I don't have time to come up with one! There's a lot of braining that goes into WTF Wednesday believe it or not 😂
So, let's try a different angle. Rather than WTF Wednesday, how about "WTF?" Wednesday. The difference is subtle but it's there. Hey, it's the best I could do under pressure (and with a curry on the stove bubbling away) 😂
I found this Spotted Flower Chafer Beetle feeding on a flower during my Botanic Gardens wander a few days ago. They're quite pretty beetles, not overly striking but normally being around a couple of centimetres, or just under, they easily catch the eye. This one was making its way around and around the daisy, shoving its face deep inside to feed on the nectar. It was happy. I was happy.
And then a very determined bee decided that the flower that the Chafer was feeding on looked particularly delicious and buzzed down and straight at the Beetle. At the sight of the incoming competition the Beetle yelled (just go with me here 😉), "WTF?!" and chucked one of its legs straight up in the air, a defensive position that it held long after the bee had moved on.
Okay it's a stretch for WTF Wednesday 😂 but fascinating behaviour all the same.
