At a birthday party. Who's already eaten the lolly bag and has found the cake. I need new things to see and new behaviours to learn about to keep me happy. BUT when the universe plonks your favourite pretty much in your lap and she sits nice and still and yells out, in an insect-y kind of way of course, \"Photograph me!\" who am I to say no?\n\nToday was a zero adventure day. But that's okay, we can't adventure all the time, can we? (Yes, we can). I took the camera out into the little side garden having spotted a lovely Leaf Cutter Bee earlier and was just kind of dragging my feet, enjoying the quieter cicada kind of day and marvelling at all the plants that a/ I haven't killed and b/ the possums haven't eaten when I saw that flash of sparkly emerald again. Unless you have seen one of these small wasps in wild, it's really hard to describe their colour and how it looks to see this tiny speck of such an incredible green, a vivid, metallic green, flash past you at break neck speed. I was feeling happy to push my luck considering it's nearly the end of the weekend, so I hope very loudly, okay, in my head, but still the voice in there can get very loud, how good it would be if the wasp just landed somewhere. You know, just for a bit.\n\nAnd land she did. On one of our outdoor chairs and in the shade which made her easier to photograph as her dimpled armoury wasn't throwing the sun in all the usual weird and wonderful ways and she could just sit there being her gorgeous self. So here she is again, my favourite Total Bastard, the Green Cuckoo Wasp.\n\nGreen Cuckoo Wasp\nNorthern Illawarra", "media": [ { "url":
