Christmas Eve Eve and I'm willing to bet that I am far from being the only one not even nearly feeling the Christmas spirit. But the world keeps turning and the Kookabubbas - yes, there's more than one! We have two! - came and sat in nice and close to our porch and whinged to their family to feed them already. Their bubba call is unique I reckon. It's got that whining, screeching young bird call note to it, but it also sounds like a slowed down, raspier Kooka laugh. And boy, do they like to eat! Both parents do the feeding, as do the siblings from previous clutches, so it's a full on family affair. And there are PLENTY of Cicadas this year to fill their bellies and if I was to have one Christmas wish, or rather, if my ears were to have one Christmas wish, it would be that they keep catching and eating those super noisy, ear piercing insects!
