Not going to lie, today was all kinds of weird. Pyjamas by 12:30, pain killers and so many journalists! I was thinking that this must be what life feels like when you go on something like Love Island but then I looked at my body in the mirror and thought that Love Island wouldn't be the show for my anyway. I then looked across at my husband and my decision to not go on a reality TV show for the perpetually beautiful and single was affirmed 😂 But all this talking about my little Jumping Spider has reminded me of just how much I love the small things; all the little spiders and insects going about their lives in their tiny communities, often right at our feet. I always struggle to verbalise what I mean, but it really helps me in some way, knowing that no matter what I'm struggling with, there's literally life and death and pairing up and babies and all of these events that we hold dear, unfolding around us, and with us not being given a second thought by those involved. It's their world. And because I'm the luckiest girl in the world, I got to spend time with some of my very favourite insects, the weevils, while I was waiting for the Humpbacks to arrive the other day. And these ones were particularly cute and so damn tiny, only a few millimetres in length. And even smaller were the little passengers a few of them had on board - little Red Velvet Mites (likely at the larvae stage), feeding on the Weevils blood-like fluid, haemolymph like teeny vampires! There's small and then there's REALLY small! Amazing! Weevil and Red Velvet Mite Bass Point
