Annnnd.... we have success!!! My little trail cam finally did what it said on the box and delivered me the goods. Well, some goods, but goods all the same. Turns out I didn't need to climb onto the chair to strap the camera to the top of the umbrella on the deck after all. As I wandered out this morning, still bleary eyed and with dogs bouncing around my legs, I just grabbed the umbrella and tipped it onto its side and hey presto, easy acess and much less chance (although I wouldn't peg it at zero just yet knowing my history with falling down) of a broken ankle! Turns out, things started happening around 5:30PM with a Brushtail Possum making its way through the tree, peeing and marking its territory as it went. I also captured another Brushie, possibly the same one, on its way back through around 1AM. It's hard to see here but a surprise visit from the Tawny Frogmouth just before 7PM, proving that it is really staying around the area. I did hear the Sugar Gliders in the wee hours but they didn't make an appearance on film and there were signs of the 'mystery' animal back in the yard again so I've got a real dilemma as to if I should put the cam back pointing at this tree again tonight, knowing that it's a real thoroughfare or back down low in the hopes that I might get something interesting on the ground. The other bits and pieces in here are from Matt's camera over a couple of nights, a bouncy Ringtail Possum and a fluffy Brushie jumping into and back out of frame and then a couple of tussling rats, whether they're native Bush Rats or introduced Black or Brown Rats there's a bit of discussion but was nice to see a bit of argy bargy either way. So these are the creatures that visit my yard night after night. No need to ever feel lonely around here! Things that go bump in the night Northern Illawarra
