"text": "I've got a feeling that this is one of those you either love it or hate it videos. And it's definitely not going to be top of the list for the arachnophobes out there but what a sighting and one I have to thank my lovely husband for!\n\nWe spotted some suspicious diggings out the front yard yesterday morning and suspect we've got some hungry Bandicoots visiting at night. My neighbour has spotted some but we haven't had any success so far (well, there was that time many moons ago when we had folks around for drinks and someone yelled, \"One of the guinea pigs is out!!!\" and we all ran around drunkenly only to discover that some people don't know the difference between a Guinea Pig and a Bandicoot. For those of you playing along at home, a guinea pig is orange and white and called Mango whilst a bandicoot is not😉). So we headed out with torches in hand and found the lawn completely empty of fluffies.\n\nJust as we were about to give up, Matt happened to catch this freshly caught Katydid in his torchlight and promptly pointed it out to prove that his eyes are still significantly better than mine! Now along with all the bonuses of catching a meal bigger than yourself, there also comes a few problems, such as part of your web will break and your prey will be dangling, swaying back and forth and spinning around and around held only by a precarious bungy line. And as you sink your fangs in to inject your venom, you too will sway and spin and sway and spin all the while trying to avoid dinner's very long and powerful legs! It's tough I tell ya! \n\nWe watched this scene for a while and as the Katydid began to slow down the Garden Orb Weaver began to wrap the body in big sheets of silk, tapering down to a single strand or two as she climbed back up and began to strenthen the line, adding more strands and strength and then going up into the web itself to do some repairs. She climbed up and down several times, each time adding some more wrapping to the prey and more support to the web until she climbed down one more time and stayed with the Katydid and started to feed. Note to self: this is not the time to lovingly caress your very jumpy husband's back as he will fling you and an imaginary spider far away in a flurry of flailing limbs! 😂😳😂\n\nGarden Orb Weaver and Katydid\nNorthern Illawarra\n\n#abcmyvideo #ausgeo #bbcwildlife #abcmyphoto #gardeningaustralia",
