So guys, I didn't want to leave you all with just today's depressing post. That's not how we do things around here and by we I mean me and speaking of 'we' can I get a round of applause for the husband who made amazing veggie burgers tonight OUT OF A RECIPE BOOK and now he thinks he's on bloody Masterchef! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ˜‚ One of my favourite lines from Jurassic Park is, "life finds a way" and this afternoon that was proven once again. After I posted that heartbreaking drawing we had a pretty quiet afternoon. It started to cool down, slowly, with the southerly not due until much later tonight. I went to head out to top up water bowls and plates and as I stood on the balcony looking around, just having a moment, I heard what sounded like scratching in the leaf litter - Lyrebirds!!! We grabbed our cameras and headed out into the sweat box and quickly spotted the male digging for worms and insects. At one point he stepped past some boulders and into what appeared to be quite a bit of water! Bloody brilliant! But there was clearly not just one pair of claws scratching away and we very soon spotted a female and what might be a juvenile (I say this because Matt spotted the two together briefly yesterday and thought he saw one feeding the other. He also once described a Kestrel as a pigeon so take that observation with a grain of salt! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‰) If you watch with the sound up you'll also hear loads of birds and insects chattering away, which after the ridiculous heat we had today with the temperature being in the 40s, was the greatest sound ever. I've tacked a bit of footage on the end from Christmas Eve too that I never got around to posting and that has all the lovely batty sounds in the background and it's just so damn nice to see nature bubbling away, even in extreme circumstances. So don't give up. Not ever. Because there is hope. Life does continue. It finds a way. Superb Lyrebirds Northern Illawarra
