"text": "They say to start the new year as you wish to continue. So I ah, had a unicorn cornetto (do not recommend), took a photo with my phone of some random dude's echidna tattoo (wasn't on silent mode and I'm pretty sure he heard the shutter and certainly saw a blur as I rushed past giggling to my husband waiting at the checkout who was yelling out to me, \"What are you up to?\" 😂🙌) and had toasted 'two cheese🧀🧀' sandwiches for lunch yesterday AND today. So all round it looks like 2020 will be a good year!\n\nWe did also spot a Black-Shouldered Kite swallowing whole a little mouse it had just caught (whilst managing to miss the photos), a whole heap of banksia munching Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoo, 2 Broad-Tailed Geckos, a Brown Stag Beetle, an Orb Weaving Spider, a Jacky Dragon, loads of Grey-Headed Flying Foxes, one with her bubba and this very busy Lewin's Honeyeater. Not bad for a couple of wanders over a couple of days. \n\nWe spotted this lovely bird as it took flight from amongst the milkweed and the lantana and both noticed that it had its beak absolutely chocka-block full of... something. In our house that's an automatic 'assume the position' kind of sighting and we both very quickly brought our cameras to our faces and waited and waited. When it finally reemerged from within the trees behind the shrubs, it headed straight for the milkweed and we got to see what it was actually doing. We watched as it plucked the fibre from the fat pods that had burst open, their seeds and the silky fluff moving gently in the wind. One beak full was never enough though and even with its bill was clearly full of the floss, it kept bouncing back to the pods, grabbing more and more, the leftover strands falling around it like snow and all so it could line its nest, making it soft and warm for brand new eggs ❤️\n\nLewin's Honeyeater\nNorthern Illawarra",
