MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME!!!!! What a way to finish a stupidly busy day of shopping and driving and picking up kids and cakes and cooking and not finishing cooking and feeling completely unchrismassy which is totally unlike myself who is a massive Christmas fan or was because I'm not going to lie I'm not quite feeling it as I have previously but hey... Anyway. My brilliant neighbour has been texting me to let me know when the Lyrebirds are about but I keep missing them - by minutes. Tonight the Grey-Headed Flying Foxes flew in early and low and I ran back outside because I've been taking photos and videos of them because they are my very favourite things ever and smell amazing and their little chatty voices make my heart happy. And then I turned to look into the bush and there he was, just sitting on a rock, looking very effing regal and totally lovely with the muted greens and the long shadows of falling night all around which of course made getting photos ridiculously difficult but what a perfect way to go into the night before Christmas where I'll force the family to watch Elf and then the carols. He didn't stay on the rock for long and walked back into the bush scratching as he went. There's video too, but Elf is about to start so I'll have to just leave you with a few photos that have made an average day perfect. A very Merry Christmas to you all! I have absolutely loved reading all your comments this year (even though it's not quite over yet). Hope tomorrow is full of love and laughter and time outside for you all because let's face it, we will all need to escape the festivities at some point during Christmas! Superb Lyrebird male Northern Illawarra
