"text": "Thought you guys might enjoy a very quick glimpse of some Blue-Banded Bee activity going on in the garden this afternoon. The video is actually quite steady because I was sitting down in the new chairs and, because I am totally fancy AF and a total whiz with technology, I've also incorporated a slow motion bit so you can see how the Blue Bum cleans itself. That, and I um, just discovered the slow-mo button in iMovie 😂 But still, it's new. Don't say I'm not trying to keep things fresh between us! 😉🙌\n\nActually I hadn't planned to spend so damn long out with the bees today but I was waiting for a package to be delivered which of course was on the truck ready for delivery at 7:30AM but didn't turn up until almost 3PM. Still, I finally put the couple of boxes of tiles away that have been sitting around in the dining room for the last couple of months and put fresh sheets on the bed and fresh sheets are one of my favourite things in the whole wide world, so the day was not totally lost.\n\nWhile I was outside, I noticed a LOT of the BBBs were landing on bare stems and resting and in some cases holding on with their mandibles so that they could free up their legs to use to wipe over their bodies, removing excess pollen and wiping over their eyes - the thought of which gives me the heebie jeebies but they don't have eyelids so, hey, whatever they need to do, I guess. I've seen them resting and cleaning before but only very occasionally in my garden patch. And I'm not sure if it was the time of day, being between 1-3PM, needing a break and a tidy up after all that flying and pollen collection or if it was just due to the angle I was now viewing them at, being on my butt, and hence lower down, for most of the time. All be it, I should point out, on alternate bum cheeks depending on where I was trying to point the camera. \n\nI did do a very quick dash to grab a few more plants, a couple of lavendar, a flowering lemon thyme and a buddleja hoping to keep the native bees happy. Hopefully not the Brushtail Possums though which I must admit, when I dropped off the pots ready to plant tomorrow with their totally delicious and ridiciously lovely smell, must already be twitching their noses and salivating at the thought of all that new food. Pray for me and my plants guys! 😂🙏\n\nBlue-Banded Bees\nNorthern Illawarra",
