Eleven years ago my dad died. The older I get the more aspects of him I see in myself so today is usually pretty awful. But I woke up feeling surprisingly good and went about doing all those morning things like paying bills, and drinking coffee that's gone cold as you're paying bills and checking up on online life. I had my laptop balanced on my knees, my credit card on my thigh and my fingers poised over the keyboard when I heard it. Now, I know what I thought it was, and even more what I wanted it to be but surely not! I turned off the TV, tilted my head to the side which everyone knows engages maximum hearing and listened again. And there it was "oom oom oom". Tony! Now Tony the Tawny has moved on from the tree near our kitchen and has ended up in another tree in our front yard. I had no idea why he was calling so contacted the lovely Sarah who advised it's likely he is making it known that he is available! So fingers crossed in the next 12months I'll become a grandmother! ๐Ÿ˜‚ But it was a lovely way to start the day. I stopped off at Bass Point where Dad used to fish and explore and watched some whales gliding past which reminded me of stories dad used to tell of whales surging up and out of the water, completely unexpected and scaring the bejesus out of him and I know he would have thought that I was in the right place. Because everything is better with your bestie, I then headed off for lunch and while I had a glass of wine, she tried to order an alcoholic ginger beer but was only served a boring old normal ginger beer because clearly she isn't sophisticated enough to have a drink drink at 11:30 AM like the rest of us adults ๐Ÿ˜‚ But then I decided on my way home to my smelly puppies and Tony and Content and the possum that dangles a leg out and over the top of the garage door on hot days like today, to drop into Bass Point one last time just to round off the day. And as soon as I pulled up, I saw a calf sized splash. I ended up doing that thing where you throw your backpack over one shoulder and try and pull your camera out while walking and there's that moment where you don't really know if you have hold of your camera properly so you pray you don't drop it but instead of stopping and checking you keep walking and praying because whales ๐Ÿ˜‚ But I made it in time to see some lovely action up in real close, so close you can see fishing rods in some of the photos! and somehow I managed to stuff all the photos where they're kind of blurred and strange looking but you know what, some days it's not about the photos but about who you were thinking about when you took them โค๏ธ Humpback Whales Bass Point
