The last few days have been so damn good here. Firstly, the kitchen is pretty much completed so no more tradies pooing in my toilet! Can I get a hell yeah?! I may have broken one of my toes this morning accidently kicking the crap out of it on a new step stool as I was admiring the baby pink tiles but totally worth it right? Did I mention no more pooing tradies!?! When I first got up, the sun was out and I was keeeennnn to get up to Camden as one of my very favourite birds has been sighted again - the Rainbow Bee Eaters. But by the time I got everything together and was ready to head out, dark clouds had rolled in, it was spitting rain occasionally and it was also super cold. I didn't want to drive all the way up only to be rained on so have postponed until the weather is better. So I of course told myself an elaborate lie about how I was totally going to stay home and pack away the rest of the kitchen stuff and finally get organised. Um yeah about that. The Wild About Whales app was going crazy with notification after notification going out. We had spent yesterday morning at Bass Point and saw two whale backs and that was it so despite the cold and my body not wanting to play life today, those notifications were very, VERY tempting. And just as I was driving home after a quick grocery stop, I saw a big white splash out to sea. Whales. Jumping whales. And close. My poor son as I barged frantically in the door carrying more bags than I thought was physically possible, yelling, "I need a favour, please pack away. Whales. Must go", grabbed my camera and took off towards the ocean. As soon as I pulled up I saw another massive spray. The sea was this delicious steel grey colour and the clouds were almost black and every few minutes up and out of the ocean surged a mumma, a juvenile escort and a teeny (well, teeny compared to the others) calf. I LOVE this time of year, when whale school is in session and the bubs copy mum and we are treated to lots of double breaching and my ovaries can't help but twinge a little at the bloody cuteness. So please excuse the shaky camera, my shoulders didn't want to work and do the camera holding thing today so the footage is what it is - absolutely beautiful for a drizzly Monday.
