So the first day of the last month of winter is okay, I guess! I've got a bit of spring cleaning fever. Don't get too excited though. My one pile of untouched notebooks (I love to buy notebooks but hate to ruin them by, ah, using them) and assorted dockets and must get to paperwork has now become 4 piles so I'm not sure I'd call it progress just yet. But baby steps and all that. I've had a wander around our poor, poor backyard, which is essentially just a big pile of dirt due to the never ending days without rain, the constant shade that comes with living surrounded by tall trees and the relentless activity of our much loved pups. Sigh. Going to buy a couple of plants and some mulch and try and make at least one bit look loved and cared for. In very exciting news though, a climber I bought and planted very hopefully last year, finally has a very small smattering of white flowers that the possums have somehow missed. Fingers crossed they last the night. I have this thing where whenever I see an animal on TV I say, "He doesn't know he's acting," and it fascinates me, these animals just doing their thing, not quite understanding that they're playing the loving family dog, or the dog that finds the show's major actor 'dead' on the ground or whatever else they have been asked to do. But it reminded me of these little Sea Snails and Black Nerites going about their day, moving along just doing their thing, even as I had the camera set up, as surfers run past and as the waves roll in and the clouds float past. And it's pretty damn awesome in its simplicity, life just happening, whether we like it or not. And even when life is tough, it's very, very lovely regardless. Happy first day of the last month of winter. Black Nerites Sandon Point
