I've kind of gone to ground over the last few days and pretty much lived in my pjs and it has been AMAZING. My body was definitely asking for rest but maybe not the copious amount of Kit Kats I've been feeding it!
As I've been padding through the house at night I've been hearing the various Possums stomping across the roof and the Sugar Gliders yapping away and I wonder about all the critters going about their night that I can't hear. Over summer I became a tad addicted to night wanders so once it gets a little warmer I might start spending some late nights and some wee hours sitting out on the deck. As often as I hear the little gliders, I rarely see them and am yet to get a photo. Goals for sure.
After not having seen little Content/Bluebelle the Ringtail Possum for a few weeks, we came home just on dark the other night to a massive rustling in the camellia bushes and the flash of a fluffy butt hurling itself out of the shrubbery and into a nearby tree, the tree that the temporary drey is in. We watched as the possum shimmied up to one of the upper branches and I used my best 'I love you possum' voice and guess who turned up the next day back in the drey? Look, I'm not saying I'm the possum whisperer, but I'm totally the possum whisperer!
Having not been out for days, I don't have any new photos at all so I've had to delve into the archives. I forgot all about these photos of the super photogenic Great Cormorant. I took these about a month ago. Their turquoise eyes would have to be one of the most beautiful in the animal world, surely? I love when they sit and preen themselves, this one getting feathers all up on its beak and floating around in the air around it. Looking at these photos of this beautiful bird taken on a gorgeous winter's day, has me packing my camera and getting my hiking boots ready for another venture out into the world. And grabbing a few more Kit Kats, for um, fuel!
