So, it's quite obvious, I would hope, that this is not a whale 😂🐋 Now that the northern migration is finally underway, I've started my annual May tradition of gracing any available headland waiting for that moment, for my first sighting of the season. And while I wander around saying I'd be happy with seeing just a bit of spray, or a glimmer of sun reflecting off that mottled black hump as it makes just a brief appearance through the waves, that's nothing but a bald-faced lie designed to throw the universe off in some weird reverse psychology kind of thing and what I'm really hoping for is of course, breaching and tail slaps, pectoral fins smashing against the water. You know the whole shebang. But getting nothing. At all. So far. So while I wait, and for now it's only half an hour here, 45 minutes there, (okay, maybe an hour, or an hour and a bit), I have to take what I can get and this lovely male Superb Fairy-Wren was bouncing around grabbing little insects and doing everything that a humpback doesn't. Including repeatedly flying into the shade. So here, it's an animal, and there's water in the background, so that's a start, right? Fingers crossed for whales over the next week for us all!!!
